The body recovered from Wind Lake Monday evening has been identified as a 34-year-old Waterford man, according to the Racine County Sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s officials in a press release issued late Monday said no further details — including the name of the victim —  would be immediately released. The matter remains under investigation.

According to Wind Lake Fire Chief Rob Robins, the body had been in the water about three days and was discovered by a woman and her child Monday. The pair were boating in about 10 feet of water and called to report it at approximately 5:25 p.m.

The body was found near the Wind Lake boat launch, just off South Wind Lake road near the Lure-U-Inn. The Racine County Water Rescue team and personnel from Raymond, Norway, Kansasville and Tichigan along with Racine County Sheriff’s deputies, among others, assisted with the search.

The cause of death is still uncertain.

  1. Why weren’t they looking for him for the last three days if he’s been in there that long. I don’t think the Fire Chief has a clue what he’s talking about!
