Waterford Chamber appoints new director

Alexandrea Dahlstrom

Alexandrea Dahlstrom, the newest executive director for the Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce, is no stranger to the community.

According to a press release from Absolutely Waterford, the 2000 Waterford Union High School graduate who grew up on Main Street is eager to use her decade-plus experience in fundraising to benefit the place she calls home.

“I have always been interested in working within the community. Waterford is my hometown and I am ecstatic to be back. I believe small businesses are vital to a town’s success.

“Growing up here I’ve seen how the town has grown and all the new commerce that has developed. I’m excited to be a part of that continued growth.”

Dahlstrom officially took the reins at the Chamber March 25, succeeding Jennifer Thomas, who left to pursue other interests.

Dahlstrom was selected among more than a dozen candidates, according to Chamber President Meghan Giese, who said Dahlstrom stood out for her creative ideas and experience with fundraising for non-profits.

“She is also very personable,” Giese wrote in an email.

Dahlstrom comes aboard with extensive experience in fundraising, event planning, marketing, public relations and volunteer coordinating, as Lakeland Animal Welfare Society’s fundraiser director for nearly 10 years.

Most recently, she was a news editor in Walworth County for the Lake Geneva Times and Genoa City Report and editorial assistant for the Delavan Enterprise, further enhancing her marketing, writing and communication skills.

Dahlstrom is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in organizational administration at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She lives in Delavan with her husband and two sons.

Dahlstrom said her goal as the Chamber’s executive director is to not only maintain existing relationships with businesses within the area, but to also form new relationships.

“I also hope to grow involvement in events such as the Balloon Fest to show visitors all that Waterford has to offer.”

Dahlstrom can be reached at the Chamber offices, (262) 534-5911.
