Vote early and often to Celebrate My Drive

Competition is getting fierce but, with community support, Waterford High School could be a contender to win big bucks and even a free concert performed here next spring by recording artist Kelly Clarkson.

The high school recently registered in a national teen driver safety campaign presented by State Farm Insurance called “Celebrate My Drive.”

From Friday, Oct. 18 to Saturday, Oct. 26, anyone age 14 and older can go to the high school’s campaign website, www.celebratemydrive.com, to vote/pledge a commitment to safe driving for Waterford students.

Everyone in the community is welcome – and encouraged – to vote once daily during the voting drive.

If enough people get “out to vote” online, WHS could win one of 10 $100,000 grants; one of 90 $25,000 grants; or one of two Grand Prize concerts featuring Kelly Clarkson.

At least 10 percent of any grant money received will be allocated to teen driver safety initiatives at WHS, explained Lauren Robbins, a sales and marketing specialist with the Bill Czaja State Farm agency.

“The rest of the money would be allocated as the school sees fit,” she said.

To kick off voting, there will be voting stations set up at the last WHS home football game on Oct 18.

During the actual week of voting from Oct. 18 to Oct. 26, voting stations will be set up at the high school during the lunch periods, as well as in the Cjaza State Farm office, 411 E. Main St., Waterford.

The Celebrate My Drive campaign was created to encourage safe-driving commitments on behalf of a community’s high school.

“This is a strictly good-will campaign and no sales material or lead generation will result,” Robbins said.
