Rochester hosts a day of community spirit

The Village of Rochester invites the public to “Rochester Community Day,” being held Saturday, June 22, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Rochester Commons Park, West Spring and State streets (by the new Village Hall).

The Village invites everyone to come and experience “reflections of the past and visions of the future,” and promises a day offering something for everyone, including:

• 1:30 p.m., Village Hall and Park dedication ceremony, with appearances by local, county and elected officials such as state Sen. John Lehman and Rep. Robin Vos;

• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., face painting, cake and ice cream social, games, Victorian dancers, Civil War demonstrations;

• other activities to run throughout the day, including free gun locks, car seat safety checks, fire department smoke house and equipment, historical society display, community garden and more.
