Machan nominated for WAMI award

The Wisconsin Area Music Industry has announced this year’s People’s Choice nominees, which include Derek Machan, director of choral activities and music theory at Waterford High School.

Machan has been nomintaed for a People’s Choice award for Music Teacher of the Year.

The 2013 WAMI Awards Show will be held at Turner Hall, 1034 North 4th St. in Milwaukee on Sunday April 14. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the Awards Show beginning at 7 p.m.

This year’s performers include The Jimmy’s, Annex, De La Buena and pat mAcdonald with Purgatory Hill. Tickets are $24.99/adults and $15/students.

The Wisconsin Area Music Industry is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to educate and recognize the achievements and accomplishments of individuals in the Wisconsin music industry.

The group also utilizes its funds to provide a Youth Music Showcase and provide scholarships to students and emerging artists.
