Driver to face charges in Waterford hit-and-run

Boy is seriously injured by suspected drunken driver

A 13-year-old Waterford boy suffered serious injuries Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is seeking charges of operating while intoxicated causing injury, hit and run causing injury and other traffic charges against Jacquelyn A. Esser, 28, of the Town of Waterford.

The vehicle Esser is suspected of driving allegedly struck Branden Stock on Main Street near the Waterford Library about 6:49 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials.

The vehicle allegedly fled the scene. However, after interviewing witnesses and conducting a canvass of the surrounding area, deputies on foot patrols were able to locate the suspect vehicle.

Officials then used vehicle registration information to identify Esser as a suspect in the incident.

Stock was taken to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident occurred after Waterford’s annual Christmas parade and related activities at the library.
