Dickenson succeeds in sanitary district recall

Challenger Dan Dickinson has succeeded in his campaign to recall Town of Waterford Sanitary District No. 1 Commissioner Bill Gerard, according to the unofficial results of Tuesday’s election.

Results posted Tuesday night by Racine County Clerk Wendy Christensen show Dickinson with 45 percent of the vote (475) to Gerard’s 37 percent (394). There were two write-ins and 188 undervotes (neither candidate selected).

While the election signals a changing of the guard – at least temporarily – for the district, ramifications of the contentious campaign are likely to reverberate for some time to come.

The two waged an intense political battle over the current management and direction of the district with Dickinson calling for change and Gerard supporting the status quo.

  1. What happened yesterday at the village board meeting with the sheriff dept contract? Why the blackout in coverage of the latest meeting?

    • No blackout in coverage. We’re simply breaking the story in Friday’s print edition of the Waterford Post to to preserve the value of that product for subscribers and advertisers. Once the print edition is out, the story will also appear here.
