Sheriff’s official suffers minor injuries in crash

Collision occurred at intersection of highways 20 and 75

A member of the Racine County Sheriff’s Department command staff suffered minor injuries Tuesday evening when the squad car he was driving was involved in a crash in the Town of Dover.

The officer was transported by rescue personnel for treatment, according to a release issued by the sheriff’s office. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred at the intersection of highways 20 and 75 about 7:48 p.m.

Officials said the driver of the other vehicle – a 22-year-old Kansasville man – was not injured. He allegedly admitted to not wearing a seat belt.

Sheriff’s officials suspect the 22-year-old failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, causing the crash. Officials do not initially believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

The Sheriff’s Office did not release the names of the officer or the other driver

The Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the investigation.
