Graham Public Library summer reading program theme announced

 

Readers of all ages will explore all things underground this summer as Graham Public Library presents “Fizz Boom, Read!” during its summer library program, in the gym at the Union Grove Elementary School. No registration required.

Activities may include science experiments, robot building, Grossology fun, nature exploration and more.

The 2014 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prizes, storytimes, and more. Registration for “Fizz, Boom, Read!” begins Monday, June 9. For more information, call the library at 878-2910 or visit www.uniongrove.lib.wi.us.

All programs are free of charge.

The summer reading program includes special performances as well as reading incentives given by the library to children who complete reading records. Program kicks off Monday, June 9. All reading records must be turned in by Thursday, July 31.

The lineup of performers is as follows:

• June 11, Mad Science: Spin, Pop, Fizz, Boom… Read! (Wednesday the first day of summer school)

• June 17, Glen Gerard- Magician

• June 24, Duke Otherwise Songs, Storyteller

• July 8, Wayne & Wingnut Ventriloquist

• July 15, Science Alliance

Story wagon performances are sponsored by Lakeshores Library System.

Family Story Hour is the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Kathy invites families to join her for stories, finger plays and crafts based on a monthly theme. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

• August 7, Wild Weather Explorers.

Lego Lab Family Night is the fourth Thursday of the month (June 26, July 24 and Aug. 28) at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Kathy invites families for Lego Lab Family Night. Let young imaginations work with Legos provided by GPL. Registration is required and limited to 20 children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No drop-offs please.

 

Fizz, Boom, R U Curious?

Ms. Kathy invites children ages 6 and up to join her for a science/engineering series Fridays at 10 a.m., starting June 13. Each Friday will have a different theme with projects and experiments. Registration is not required for this program and children do not need to be accompanied by an adult.

Make-n-Take Fridays at Graham Public Library offers the opportunity for preschoolers to be creative! These super-simple, self-directed projects are perfect for preschoolers with an adult and can be made between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Instructions and supplies are provided free. No registration required.

Library hours are Mondays-Thursdays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
