A recount of votes cast in the April 2 election for the Trustee No. 3 position on the Union Grove Village Board confirms newcomer Adam Graf narrowly besting incumbent Ronald Bogard.

The official recount tally is Graf, 300 votes; Bogard, 328, according to Jill Kopp, the village’s clerk-treasurer.

The recount was conducted by village staff at the Racine County courthouse on April 11.

Because of the narrow margin, Bogard was not charged a filing fee for the recount, per state statutes.

Nor will Racine County charge the village for the Programmable Read Only Memory pack cartridge used to obtain the voting details of the recount.

“The County actually has a few extra memory packs, so we used one of those for the recount,” explained Racine County Clerk Wendy Christensen.

In the last few years, when larger recounts required the use of separate memory packs for most of the County, extra packs had to be rented from the company that supplies the election material, so there was a cost entailed for those past recounts, Christensen explained.

“But there was no cost for the Union Grove recount,” she said.
