Pot buy sting nabs area man

A Union Grove man is charged with selling marijuana in Burlington following a drug sting conducted by the Racine County Metro Drug Unit last August.

Robert A. Vanderham, 30, made his initial appearance in Racine County Circuit Court Feb. 22 to face three counts of manufacture/deliver THC, which is the intoxicating ingredient in marijuana.

Cash bond was set at $750.

Vanderham was ordered not to consume or possess any controlled substances and submit to random drug testing while the case is pending.

A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for Feb. 27.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, agents from the drug unit used a “cooperating citizen” to purchase marijuana from Vanderham on Aug. 14, Aug. 15 and Aug. 24 at the Pinecrest Shopping Center in Burlington.

In each instance the citizen, who was equipped with audio and video recording devices, remained under surveillance of agents during the transaction and turned the marijuana over to them shortly afterward.

In each instance the substance received tested positive for THC, the complaint alleges.
