Outdoor dining permit at risk for R&R Club

Unless soon rectified, several violations threaten to revoke the conditional use permit issued to R&R Club LLC, which allows the bar/tavern to offer an outdoor dining area at 1017 Main St., Union Grove.

When the Village approved the R&R Club conditional use permit in August 2009, the owner, Ric Storbeck agreed to comply with two-dozen conditions.

If these are not met, the Village can choose to issue a citation or revoke the permit during its yearly review of the establishment.

Among the list of violations noted is an advertising banner erected on the south side of the building without a permit, loud music playing well beyond the 9 p.m. allotted time, trash and other debris along the streets.

Because R & R has not removed the trash strewn by its patrons, the debris removal has fallen to the already overworked village public works crew.

Another concern is an outdoor tent constructed of PVC pipe and plastic that was in the dining area during the winter months, which violates a condition prohibiting outdoor storage or buildings.

According to Village Plan Commissioner, Mike Aimone, a letter outlining the violations, followed up by a phone call, will invite Storbeck to attend the village’s Aug. 13 Plan Commission meeting to discuss the issues.

“They need to live up to their agreements and they are all pretty clear cut,” said Aimone.

“Hopefully, they will have the opportunity to take care of these violations before the next meeting. We hope they can comply with these conditions, so we will be able to honor the 2009 conditional use permit. ”
