The Tall Tales Music Festival in downtown Burlington didn’t happen in 2020 because of COVID-19 concerns.

However, after a one-year layoff, organizers will bring back the event for the eighth time on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13-14, and will feature two days of live music from national touring artists, craft beer, food, youth music workshops and a weekend full of games.

Patrick Sullivan, Tall Tales Music Festival organizer, said the return should come with plenty of excitement for music fans and local business owners.

“It’s been a long road to get to this point,” he said. “More than anything, we are just thrilled to be able to provide the space that will allow folks to gather outdoors and enjoy a weekend full of great live music.”

Tall Tales Music Festival, held on Chestnut Street near The Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine, includes live music on the main stage from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday as well as 3 p.m. through 11 p.m. the next night.

Additionally, according to Sullivan, the festival includes an acoustic stage on the Chestnut Street Loop featuring local musicians from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Area groups also plan to have to youth music workshops and activities on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“We will once again be offering a variety of free music workshops for kids, including popular favorites like the ukulele and pint-sized polka workshops,” Sullivan said, adding the workshops are free and do not require any reservations.

Workshops, however, are not the only feature for children.

Sgt. Pepper’s Playground, according to Sullivan, will run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday in the loop.

“This will consist of Beatles-themed interactive experiences for kids, including an Abbey Road photo booth and a Yellow Submarine bubble dance party,” Sullivan said.

The tagline for this year’s festival is “Good People – Excellent Music.”

“People should expect to enjoy some amazing performances in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere,” Sullivan said.

The schedule of performers follows.
