Seno rendezvous brings pioneer history to life

Frontier history will come to life May 18 when the Seno Woodland Education Center, Burlington, hosts its annual Spring Woodland Rendezvous.

The historical re-enactment is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 18, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, May 19.

Visitors to the education center will have a chance to watch as participants celebrate the lives and achievements of our ancestors. Dressed in historically authentic garb and using only historically authentic reproductions of the shelters and tools, they re-enact the historical gatherings of frontiersmen and their families exchanging goods and services and enjoying the company of new and old friends.

Visitors will see a pioneer rendezvous compete with a variety of historically authentic games of skill, crafts, and trading items. Visitors will also have a chance to talk with pioneers at their campsites as the take a leisurely walk around the Seno forest trails.

Some of the skills that will be on display include wooden toy making, flax processing, woodworking, yarn spinning, trapping, frontier surveying, music and games.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for ages 12 and younger.

The Seno Woodland Education Center is at 3606 Dyer Lake Road (Highway P), five miles south of Burlington or two miles north of Highway 50.
