To Alderman and Plan Commission member Tom Vos, the property at 848 Milwaukee Avenue has never been properly maintained.

So, with a new auto repair facility planning to move onto the property, Vos wanted to make sure Tuesday night at the Plan Commission meeting that the new owner had plans to make the situation better.

“We never asked him to do anything,” Vos said of the previous business, JOB Auto Body. “I hope Mr. Pulera will do more.”

Chris Pulera, who had his site plan and conditional use permit unanimously approved by the Plan Commission Tuesday night, pledged he would improve the site.

“It’s kind of taking everything I have to buy the property,” Pulera explained. “I would be glad to pave it as soon as I am able to afford it.”

Most of the concerns about the previous owners were the lack of sight lines because of the rental trucks displayed on the property, and about the lack of pavement and landscaping.

No one was more vocal about those issues Tuesday night than Vos.

“We never put anything in place to make sure it was a nice property,” said Vos. “I just want to see someone step up, clean it up.”

Pulera said the number of cars on the property at the time would be limited, as he would take in work on an appointment basis. He hoped to have no more than one or two cars parked outside the business.

The U-Haul rental business will no longer be on the property.

Also at the meeting Tuesday night, the Plan Commission unanimously approved an extraterritorial zoning district certified survey map for a property on West State Street in the Town of Burlington.

The City’s Extraterritorial Plat Approval Jurisdiction Area comes into play with any area within 1 ½ miles of the City so it can extend City regulations on adjacent land that could affect quality of life within the City.

Wisconsin Vision Associates will be purchasing two properties on West State Street east of Mormon Road.
