Community Pool will open for the season May 31

Swimming lesson registration is Wednesday

Registration for American Red Cross swimming lessons as well as summer memberships at the Burlington Community Pool will be available during two sessions beginning this week.

The sign-up sessions are Wednesday, May 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Karcher Middle School gym; and Saturday, June 1, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the pool, 394 Amanda St.

The pool offers four two-week sessions of swimming lessons on weekday mornings from mid June through mid August. Schedules are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Each class is 35 minutes long and all classes are held between 8 and 11:40 a.m.

Lesson fees this year are: $65 each for pool members ($80 for non-members) for the first two children or classes; and $55 for members ($70 non-members) for the third or more child or class.

Pool opens May 31

The Community Pool is scheduled to open for the season on Friday, May 31, at 5 p.m. Pre-summer weekday hours of 5-8 p.m. and weekend hours of 1-8 p.m. are in effect until June 6.

The regular summer schedule is:

• open public swimming, 1-5 p.m.;

• adult lap swimming/family time, 5-6 p.m.;

• open public swimming, 6-7:30 p.m.; and

• adult lap swimming, 7:30-8 p.m.

Season-long memberships, which allow unlimited use of the pool during public swim sessions, are available for $195 for families and $125 for individuals. The family membership includes 10 guest passes and the single membership includes five guest passes. Senior citizen passes are available for $165 (husband and wife) or $100 single.

The daily admission fee is $7 with discounts to $5 after 5 p.m. and $3 after 6 p.m.
