Fire breaks out at Burlington’s Nestle plant

Firefighters were dispatched to Nestle’s Burlington factory Friday afternoon for the report of a fire.

The call came in about 1:40 p.m. The first units to arrive from the City of Burlington Fire Department reported a “working fire” and called for manpower assistance from the Town of Burlington Fire Department a short time later.

There were no immediate reports of injury or extensive damage as a result of the fire, which was in an area at the back of the complex fronted by Highway 83.

The factory makes Toll House chocolate morsels and various chocolate bars and candy.

For a complete report and photo of the fire scene, see the Oct. 18 print edition of the Burlington Standard Press.
