After a holiday season full of giving, Love Inc. sometimes suffers a case of post-holiday neglect.

Thrivent Financial took some of that hurt away Tuesday morning. Thrivent presented staff at the service organization with a $30,000 check as part of its Circle of Love event.

“Obviously, it’s huge,” said Love’s new Executive Director, Barb Howard. “It is the time of year we get hit hard.

“To have that at the beginning of the year and have Thrivent match money, it’s big for us,” she added.

Scott Herrmann, lead financial consultant and managing director at Thrivent’s Burlington office, said the Circle of Love event – a matching donation program that the donation helped kick off – is just one of a number of ways Thrivent is active in the community.

Thrivent has an “action team” program that members can use to jump start fundraisers, as well as contributions made to area charities from the profits gained through various taxes that the organization cannot keep because of its non-profit status.

Herrmann added the community has come up with what has been needed time and again, but the Love Inc. food pantry remains under pressure.

“It’s when a lot of the needs are at the highest,” Herrmann said of the January donation.

Howard said the food pantry serves about 1,200 people a month.
