Routine stop leads to guns and drugs

Paul Frank, 39, of Greenfield was charged in circuit court last week with possession of an electric weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of possession of marijuana.

According to the criminal complaint, the Racine County Sheriff’s Department was on patrol in Kansasville Feb. 7 when Frank drove past in a Hyundai Elantra with dark window tinting.

When the deputy pulled him over, Frank reportedly had a jacket over his legs and told the deputy he didn’t know whether the vehicle was insured.

After testing the window tint, it was found to be too dark. The deputy called for a K-9 backup and issued Frank the citation for the window tint.

When the dog arrived, Frank had to be asked three times to exit the vehicle, according to the report. The dog “alerted” to the vehicle, and when Frank was asked if there was anything illegal in the car, he allegedly told police yes.

In searching the vehicle, deputies allegedly found: a loaded semi-automatic Beretta; a pink Vipertek electric weapon that was charged and functional; a Clorox wipes container with a bag of marijuana in it; a container of dried THC oil; a glass smoking pipe and a white vaporizer – both of which allegedly smelled of marijuana; two black plastic containers with marijuana seeds in them; various other drug paraphernalia, and several lock-picking tool sets.

Frank allegedly told the deputies that he uses marijuana to treat chronic pain and has the lock-picking tools as a hobby. He also said he got the gun from a drug dealer who pulled it on him and the Vipertek stun gun at Seven Mile Fair.
