Nielsen overwhelming choice of local lawyers

The Racine County Bar Association released the results of its judicial qualification poll Tuesday, with Mark Nielsen easily leading the poll.

Members of the bar association were asked to vote on the qualifications of the two candidates for Racine County Circuit Court Judge Branch 4 – Joseph Seifert and Nielsen.

The results of the poll were tabulated by the courts committee, and candidates were offered the chance to be present at the ballot tabulation, though neither attended.

The poll question read, “Please vote for the individual that you believe is most qualified based upon your personal knowledge, investigation or experience.”

Nielsen earned 103 votes, while Seifert earned three. Five answered that both candidates were equally qualified, and one person did not pick either candidate.

Nielsen, who has received endorsement from Burlington judges Tim Boyle and Allan Torhorst, said via email that he was pleased with the results.

“The legal community is in a good position to knowledgeably evaluate judicial candidates,” Nielsen wrote.

A preview on the judge race for Branch 4 will be in next week’s editions of the Standard Press, Waterford Post and Westosha Report.
