Fox Lake students transported to hospital

Students coming to Camp MacLean for a day trip Thursday ended up at area hospital after a crash in Illinois on the way to the camp.

According to Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling, the two buses collided in Illinois on their way to Burlington. No injuries were initially reported, but by the time students arrived in the city, many were hurting.

“It’s not uncommon to have injuries reported later after an accident,” Schmaling said. “Your body tenses up and you don’t necessarily feel the effects until sometimes later.”

According to Schmaling, there were no serious injuries. Numerous ambulances were on scene due to the number of students involved, however, and students were transported to a number of area hospitals – including Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.
