Couple charged in drug sting

A Burlington man – already out on bond after being charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia in 2014 – was hit with new charges after he and his girlfriend allegedly sold heroin to a confidential informant.

Jason Wood, along with Jennifer Brown, were charged in late January. Wood, who made his initial appearance last week, was charged with three counts of delivering heroin, three counts of felony bail jumping, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He remained in Racine County Jail as of Tuesday. When he appeared in court on April 5, he was arrested on a child support warrant as well.

The criminal complaint states that Wood and his girlfriend – who was also charged with delivery of heroin, falsely presenting a non-controlled substance and possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia – allegedly sold heroin and delivered it to the person buying, who then returned the purchase to the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Police executed a search warrant following the buys in September 2015, allegedly finding various pieces of paraphernalia and heroin.

The two charges from 2014 stem from a potential overdose situation where the sheriff’s department responded after Wood collapsed in the bathroom at a Beach Drive address.
