With a Saturday open house planned and an opening date coming on Oct. 17, staff at Aurora Health Care are expressing excitement over the new Burlington facility.

“I came here about a year and a half ago, and this building was a rendering on a piece of paper,” said Katie Moersfelder, the director of market growth and development for Aurora in Burlington and in Walworth County. “To be days away from the big open house, to be days away from Oct. 17, when we’ll see our first patients, I’m excited to bring more options, more services to the Southern Lakes area.”

The new Aurora Health Care Southern Lakes facility, at 709 Spring Valley Road, Burlington, will be open to the public Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Full tours of the facility will be going on, but there will be other activities as well. There will be children’s activities, tailgate food, giveaways and an autograph session with three former Green Bay Packers – Gilbert Brown, William Henderson and Ahman Green.

Details on the new facility include a comprehensive women’s imagining center that includes 3-D mammography, audiology, ENT, endoscopy, gastroenterology, general surgery, hematology and medical oncology, imaging, lab, orthopedics, pain management, pharmacy, podiatry, rehabilitation services, sports medicine and urology.

The Vince Lombardi cancer services offered in both Burlington and Elkhorn will now take place at the new facility, as well as day surgery. The oncology area will feature a healing garden as well as integrative medicine such as aromatherapy, massage and reiki.

Valet parking services will be available as well as exclusive parking for oncology patients, plus an on-site café and free WiFi. There will be more than 200 employees at the facility.

“Patients are our No. 1,” said Moersfelder said. “I can’t wait for people to experience it.”
