Woman injured in crash with truck

A crash with a semi-truck Sept. 9  sent a Burlington woman to Froedtert via Flight for Life helicopter with serious injuries.

According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, the truck and the woman’s car collided on the Burlington bypass about 8 a.m. at the intersection with Pine Street.

Original reports had the woman trapped, but she had gotten out of her vehicle by the time emergency services arrived. She was transported first to Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington and then to Froedtert.

The woman’s two children – both in car seats, didn’t appear to have any injuries, but were transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin as a precaution, officials said.

The driver of the semi truck was cited for failure to yield the right of way, as he was trying to turn left on to Pine Street while the woman was coming from the opposite direction.

No names were released.
