Teenagers charged after breaking into burnt home

A pair of area teenagers are facing felony charges after allegedly breaking into the home where a fatal fire took place last week.

Tyler Arnold, 19, and Pearl Castillo, 18, are both facing several felony charges after police were summoned to 418 Fox Isle Park Drive Monday.

Lawrence Hough, 88, died in the fire. Other relatives living at the home escaped the blaze.

Arnold is facing a single count of burglary and five counts of possession of narcotic drugs – all felony charges. Castillo is charged as being a party to the crime on all of the same charges.

According to the Racine County Sheriff’s report, neighbors called police after seeing two people leave the house. After finding the two walking some distance away, a Racine County Sheriff’s deputy asked what they were doing in the home.

Arnold said he had permission from Hough’s daughter to be in the house. However, when the deputy called the daughter to ask if she’d given permission, the woman allegedly said, “Absolutely not! He is a thief and I don’t want him anywhere near my house.”

The woman then arrived on scene and allegedly started to yell at Arnold. The two were going to be cited for trespassing, but Arnold was found to have a probation hold. The deputy allegedly searched Arnold’s backpack before arresting him, and found medication that belonged to Gough, the daughter’s checkbook, social security card and a credit card, cash and a flashlight.

The deputy then searched Arnold further, and found an earring belonging to the daughter. After going back to the home, the deputy found beer that had been in the woman’s car had been drank, and drawers had been gone through.

The medication turned out to be sedatives, blood pressure medication, a pill for angina, Oxycodone and Adderall.

Preliminary hearings for a sentencing have been set for June 4 in Racine County Circuit Court.
