Shoplifting leads to bail jumping charges

A 43-year-old Union Grove woman is charged with bail jumping after allegedly attempting to shoplift from Walmart in Burlington Friday.

Tammi Lee Dehoyos is accused of retail theft of merchandise less than $500, and two counts of felony bail jumping.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Racine County Circuit court, City of Burlington police were called to Walmart for a report of retail theft Friday.

A loss prevention officer at Walmart said that Dehoyos was recognized from a prior incident at Walmart, and allegedly concealed multiple items within her purse. When Dehoyos was confronted, she allegedly used foul language and refused to show her purse to the officer. She then left the store and drove off.

The police officer found the vehicle and pulled over Dehoyos, who allegedly compared the allegation to animal excrement.

After police learned she was on bond for other felony charges, including shoplifting, an illegally obtained prescription and bail jumping, and she was arrested.

Dehoyos’ purse was allegedly searched and several items from Walmart were found. Walmart also submitted videotape of the incident, as well as a receipt for the items taken, which came to a total of $122.60.
