Library announces upcoming programs

Burlington Public Library, 166 E. Jefferson St., has announced its upcoming programs as follows:

  • Time Out for Play – informal play group for kids and their adults is Mondays in the Children’s Room from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Puppets, puzzles, and books provided or bring your own toys. Free coffee is available. No registration is needed.
  •  Story Time – Finger plays, bouncing movements, rhythmic play and stories are the core of this program for ages 2 and under and their caretakers. We meet Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26. No registration is necessary. Be sure to come to the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Kick-off Party on Jan. 19.   • Building Blocks – Linda Breuer, Children’s Resource Coordinator at Love Inc. hosts this program, featuring musical activities, books, and social play for children up to four years old and their families. We meet Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., Jan. 13, 20, and 27, and continue on through February.
  • WannaWatchaMovie? – Sign up to see a full-length, recently released family movie on Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Check wwwBurlingtonLibrary.com for movie title and rating. Registration is required.
  • LEGOs After School – Drop in and create with LEGOs provided by the library on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 3-5 p.m. No registration is necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Yarn Club – If you have an itch to stitch – crochet or knit – you are welcome to drop in Mondays from 3:30-5 p.m., hosted by Lori Hintz for ages 13 through adult. No experience is necessary. Beginners should bring one pair of size 15 needles, long or short; two skeins of super bulky yarn; and a crochet hook, size I or J.
  • Sewing Make & Take Week is Jan. 11-15 – Get ready for drop-in workshops all week long at the library. Bring clean clothing to mend (buttons, rips, tears) Monday, Jan. 11 and Friday, Jan. 15 – drop in from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday, Jan. 12 drop in from 1-3 p.m. and learn how to make a pillowcase; Wednesday, Jan. 13 drop in from 1-3 p.m. to make a canvas tote bag; and Thursday, Jan. 14, drop in from 1-3 p.m. to make a rope basket. We supply the instructor, thread, and sewing machines (courtesy of BASD). Call or visit the library to get your supply list for each workshop. All Make & Take Workshops are free and open to adults.
  • Helen Keller: A Life Nearly Lost – Jessica Michna portrays Helen Keller in this free family presentation on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. No registration is necessary.
