A Burlington manufacturer announced Monday plans to expand its operations.

Lavelle Industries, Inc. is expanding at its production facilities in Burlington and Whitewater to support growth in its Korky toilet repair products and custom rubber-molded parts.

Lavelle is adding rubber injection and compression molding presses in Burlington to meet increasing sales demands.

In Whitewater, construction on a planned expansion began in October, and is on track to be finished by early summer of 2015. That expansion will house additional equipment and staff.

“I am pleased that Lavelle continues to grow by providing quality, domestically manufactured products to our customers,” company president and majority owner Rhonda Sullivan, said in a press release. “We continually look for ways to stay competitive in an industry dominated by foreign competition.”

The expansion project is expected to total up to $15 million and create up to 90 new jobs at both locations over the next three years.

To support the project, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is providing Lavelle with up to $991,250 in Economic Development Tax Credits over the next three years. The actual amount of state tax credits issued is contingent upon the number of jobs created and the amount of capital investment the company makes in the two projects.

“WEDC is pleased to assist Lavelle Industries in this project and applauds its continued commitment to growing in Wisconsin,” said Reed Hall, secretary and CEO of WEDC, the state’s lead economic development organization.

Lavelle’s products are designed and manufactured in Wisconsin.  Developing its proprietary rubber formulas over decades, Lavelle is able to meet the material specifications of its original equipment manufacturer customers, according to the company release.

Korky toilet flappers, fill valves and flush valves are sold through home centers, hardware stores, mass merchandisers and wholesale channels coast-to-coast.

  1. Lavelle and the Coffee House slurping up again at the WEDC slush fund. Again the little guy pays for the connected’s toys. Bailout America continues on. Can’t make it on your own? – steal. They’re not embarrassed one bit – they take pride in thievery.

  2. Its become a regular thing for this site to censor comments when its comes to their public figure friends. Will this one get through? Is this a reporting site or a propaganda site?:

Once again Lavelle and the Coffee House slurping from the WEDC slush fund. Fact: increasing taxes for those who don’t benefit to enrich themselves – taxing the small start up competition and getting freebies – killing small business jobs.

But this paper censors these public issue facts and opinions to protect their friends. Are you going to have any shame at all and print this???

  3. what the hell are you talking about?

    • 1. The paper censors comments.

      2. Taxpayer money, you know taxes paid by people, are given as freebies raising costs for others.

Because people like you don’t understand such a simple concept, they get away with it.

  4. I guess employing more people in Burlington is not a good thing regardless of how the funds are obtained. Some people just don’t get it.

    • So how is giving taxpayer freebies to wealthy companies good? Why don’t we give them 100 million – they could dominate the toilet industry while we eat gruel. Ever hear of a bank? Your paying for them not to go to Mexico and China not because of economic need.

Why don’t you empty your bank account and charge up your credit and give it to them to make better choices for you?

Some people just don’t get it – that’s why they get away with it.

  5. Hey 7eleven. Is 7 your age and eleven your IQ?

    • Maybe so. Find an intelligence scale for a brain that can only spew pithy invective and cannot argue upon the fact WEDC is a slush fund that takes from the taxpayers to benefit a private business. What score do you give yourself?

Rate the “private capitalists” who love oligarchic socialism when it comes to lining their own pockets to exclude competitors. I think you’ll find neighbors in Lavelle, Coffee House, Amazon, Echo Farms, Aurora, Bear Realty, etc.

Wish to engage, or fiddle your lip for more stimulation? Your buddies above love your ignorance.

  6. As long as the schools keep pumping out financial illiterates – the connected like Lavelle/Coffee House will keep robbing us blind. Donate here and there to look like good guys, take back 10x as much under the table.
