BASD board picks Schmaling as replacement

The Burlington Area School District School Board voted Monday to select Barry Schmaling as the replacement for board member Larry Anderson, who is resigning.

The board required two votes to reach a decision. Schmaling earned three votes in the first round – one short of the majority needed to be picked. In the second round, he received the fourth vote.

Voting for Schmaling the second time were School Board Members Todd Terry, Jim Bousman, Bill Campbell and Kevin Bird. Anderson did not vote because it was his seat being filled, and Rosanne Hahn voted for Susan Kessler and Phil Ketterhagen for Pattie Reda.

In the first round of voting, the only change was Bird voting for Jim Berndt. For more on this story, please see the Thursday print edition of the Burlington Standard Press.
