It was like a scene out of a movie Friday evening.

There, receiving top billing at the Plaza Theater in Burlington, was Ryan Glinos’ heart for all to see.

“Emma, will you go to prom with me?”

With the permission of his employer Shad Branen, Glinos used the billboard at the theater Friday night to ask his friend Emma Fliess to prom.

“It was a total surprise,” said Fliess Monday. “He was kind of, like, hinting at it.

“But I had no idea he was going to ask me … especially that way.”

Glinos and fellow employees set up the sign Friday afternoon, and he walked Fliess there around 6:30 p.m.

“I thought it was something out of a movie, and it was something for someone else,” admitted Fliess, who immediately began taking pictures.

“Very creative, and very sweet,” she added.

Of course, she said yes.

“I’m so happy she said yes,” said Branen.

The two are students at Burlington High School. Prom is slated for April 12.
