The City of Burlington administrator isn’t the only one leaving city hall.

City Building Inspector Patrick Scherrer recently announced his resignation. However, because of accumulated vacation time, he is already out of the office.

“He submitted a letter of resignation,” said Lahner. “He was preparing to retire sometime soon anyway.”

Mayor Bob Miller confirmed the retirement Tuesday afternoon.

Lahner said the city has contracted with Municipal Services LLC. The group has been doing the city’s contract services like commercial inspections for at least the last seven years.

However, Lahner said the city is hoping to have a new building inspector hired “as soon as possible.”

“We’re putting out the ad as of early next week,” Lahner said.
