ARAMARK deposits under investigation in BASD

The Burlington Area School District alerted parents Friday of a police investigation into the BASD food service fund following a “bank deposit irregularity” in December.

Superintendent Peter Smet said that a complete audit of the food service fund is underway by the City of Burlington Police Deparment, and that ARAMARK – the district’s food service provider – would compensate the district for any losses.

Smet said in the letter that the district’s system of financial checks and balances caught the problem in deposits, and that credit card deposits were not affected. The ARAMARK employee responsible has been removed until the investigation is complete.
