Election results: Anderson and Bousman in BASD; Klemko and Jensen in WUHSD; Gateway referendum fails

Voters in the Burlington Area School District provided a sweep for the ticket of Larry Anderson and Jim Bousman Tuesday night and delivered a split decision in the hotly contested Waterford Union High School District.

In the WUHSD race, Nancy Klemko and Dan Jensen, who represented two different camps during the campaign, came out the winners.

The other area issue garnering considerable attention — the Gateway Technical College referendum — was soundly defeated by voters. The college’s request for permission to borrow $49 million for academic and facility expansion and upgrades was shot down by 60 percent of the voters who cast ballots.

  1. This is a pity. I guess short-term savings of a little is more important to some than seeing growth and educational opportunities (they are really one in the same) for the future. I guess I look at it like a new car–you can save money for a while by never changing the oil, but eventually it will end up in a very expensive repair. Over the long term, the oil changes are a better investment. The firefighter, police officer and EMS that you will need one day would have been better trained because of this facility, but you do get to keep that 10-40.00/YEAR (depending on who’s estimate you use) in your pocket. Enjoy it.
