While the Burlington Farmers Market will not be running its “Taste of the Market” event this year, the market will still hold a year-end celebration on its final day of the year.

What is being called the “Harvest Market Celebration” will be on the final Thursday of the market, Oct. 31, during regular market hours.

“It’s mostly family activities,” said Carol Reed, the market director. “We thought parents would bring their kids down, and shop the market.”

As always, tasting will be available, but there will be hands-on kids’ activities in the gazebo, as well as storytelling from Miss Lynn, called “Sing a Story, Tell a Song.” The storytelling will take place at 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

The market is wrapping up a season that saw some minor changes, most notably the opening of East Washington Street for parking and the closing of part of South Perkins Boulevard for vendors.

“People have commented that it looks smaller, but it’s not really,” said Reed, who still has about the same number of vendors as a year ago (25). “It’s just a different layout.”
