Driver in critical condition after early morning crash

A 30-year-old Elkhorn man is in critical condition at Froedtert Memorial Hospital after an early morning car crash in Waterford township.

According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene on High Drive near Honey Creek Road around 12:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived they found the occupant of the vehicle unconscious but breathing in the driver’s seat. The airbags had been deployed.

The driver was transported to Burlington Memorial Hospital and was later taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Memorial Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. At this time it appears that speed and alcohol may have been factors in the accident.
