ROGER M. STURDEVANT


Roger M. Sturdevant, 77, Burlington, died Jan. 15, 2012, at Kindred Nursing and Rehab in Burlington. He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Baraboo, to the late Clyde and Myrtle (Ingebretson) Sturdevant.

He was a graduate of Wisconsin Dells High School and had proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956.

On March 27, 1954, in Lake Delton, he married Joan Moon. They had resided in Burlington since 1960.

He was a retired Ironworker and a member of English Settlement United Methodist Church, Local 8 Union, the Burlington Conservation Club and the American Legion of Pittsville. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed golfing, hunting and trap shooting.

Survivors include his wife; children, Deborah (Ken Gurney) Sturdevant, David (Donna) Sturdevant, Dean (Patti) Sturdevant, Denise (Greg) Skrundz and Dawn (James) Myszkewicz; grandchildren, Joanna and Edward Gurney, Matthew, Michelle, Bryan, Aaron, Jeffrey and Nicholas Sturdevant, Will and Sam Skrundz, and Taylor and Nolan Myszkewicz; brother, Leon Sturdevant; sister, Mary Ellen (Rodger) Ellis; and sister-in-law, Blanche Sturdevant.

He was further preceded in death by his brother, Harold.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m., at English Settlement United Methodist Church, 28215 Plank Road, Burlington. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is assisting the family.
