Live from the Standard Press – it’s the postseason! (updated!)

In prep volleyball regional finals Saturday night, Burlington High School and Catholic Central High School both earned sweeps – over Fort Atkinson and Monticello, respectively.

Union Grove defeated Oak Creek 3 sets to one, while the Waterford vs. Kenosha Tremper was still unavailable at 11 p.m.

Meanwhile in football, Waterford cruised Friday night in a 42-7 win over visiting Greenfield, leading 28-0 at the half. Catholic Central was one of three Midwest Classic Conference teams to win in Division 7, as the Hilltoppers routed No. 1 seed Randolph, 45-12. Randolph scored twice in the fourth quarter against the Hilltoppers’ subs.

Living Word Lutheran and Lake Country Lutheran both won, while the fourth game – Black Hawk at Rio – started at 4 p.m. We’ll further updates later if you check back at www.myracinecounty.com.

And finally, the Waterford Union High School girls’ cross country team earned a trip back to state Saturday morning, finishing second at the Horlick sectional at UW-Parkside. The Wolverines edged out Badger by two points. Tremper won both the boys and girls titles.

The Waterford boys finished fourth.

Catholic Central High School’s Jeremy Lemke will also be making the trip, after earning one of the five individual spots from the Horlick Division 3 sectional.
