LUANN MARY STRAND

      Luann Mary Strand, 75, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at her residence with her loving family by her side on Jan. 21, 2023.

Luann was born April 16, 1947, to Elmer and Ruth (nee Wagner) Rubach in Burlington. She was raised and educated in the Burlington area. She was employed as a licensed cosmetologist and taught at the beauty school before retiring.

On Sept. 20, 1975, Luann married David Strand at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. They lived in the Burlington area where they raised their family. In 2013, they moved to Waterford. Luann was a volunteer at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington in the gift shop and was a buyer with the Wig Program for patients with hair loss. Some of her favorite things to do included traveling in the United States and Europe, knitting prayer shawls, making jewelry, and decorating St. Charles Catholic Church. Luann had a passion for collecting primitive antiques and she loved to cook for her family. She had an endless love for her family. She truly enjoyed being a mom.

Luann is survived by her loving husband David; children, Liese (Jeffery) Aeschlimann, Paul (Karen) Strand, and Christopher (Jennifer) Strand; grandchildren, Alexander and Tyler; sister Lynne Epping; other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Stan, and sister-in-law Jean Coker.

A memorial gathering will be held on Feb. 6, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford, from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. with Mass beginning at 11 a.m. Private inurnment will take place.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials are encouraged to “Aurora Medical Center Burlington, Volunteer Scholarship Fund.”

The Strand family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Jeanne, Rita, Mary, and Pam for their loving care and support of Luann in her time of need.
