FREDERICK A. KUMBA

      Frederick A. Kumba, 73, of Burlington, Indiana and longtime former of Burlington, Wisconsin resident, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at his home in Burlington, Indiana.

Fred was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Crown Point, Indiana, to Alfred M. and Lucille A. (nee Buechs) Kumba. He grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin where he was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1967, attended college to study drafting. His dream was to be an architect, but his life took him in another direction. He found a job as a cook for the Playboy Club in Lake Geneva. Later, he found employment with AMC in Kenosha on Aug. 22, 1972, where he stayed until transferring to Chrysler in Kokomo, Indiana in 1989. He was a local UAW 685 member until he retired on Feb. 9, 2008.

Fred enjoyed fishing and bowling. When he retired, he enjoyed remodeling his home to stay busy. He enjoyed walking and taking his dogs to the Burlington dog park. He was an avid lover of animals and owned several throughout his life. He enjoyed spending his time watching western and animal movies. He was also a big country music fan.

Fred is survived by his children, Chaun (nee Kumba) Bonk and Christopher Kumba; grandchildren, Dalton O’Hara, Dustyn Kumba, Jennifer O’Hara, Dyllan Kumba, Jordyn Kumba and Alfred T. Kumba; great grandchildren, Gabriel Lewis, Genesis Lucille Lewis, and Zachariah Lewis; and his brothers, Jerry Kumba, Dennis Kumba, Kenneth Kumba and Kevin Kumba. He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife and the mother of his children, Janet (Oberg) Wright, wife Sue (nee Pisula) Kumba, and his son Alfred L. Kumba.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home – Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan Street in Burlington, Indiana. Memorial service will begin at noon on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will take place in Burlington Cemetery in Indiana.     In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fred’s memory to the Kokomo Humane Society.
