NORMAN R. SCHUMANN

Norman R. Schumann, 70, of Burlington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Elmhurst, Illinois. on July 7, 1951, to William and Olive (nee Nelson) Schumann, Norman spent his early life in Illinois until moving to Trevor in 1963. He graduated from Wilmot High School “Class of 1969”. On Nov. 14, 1981, he was united in marriage to Phyllis (nee Grandsard) Kayser in McHenry, Illinois. Following their marriage they resided in Burlington.

Norm worked in sales throughout his career. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling, especially the Outer Banks in North Carolina. He also enjoyed being outside working on his yard, visiting the Casinos with friends, listening to music (especially the Beatles) and was a Rock-n-Roll aficionado. But more than anything, Norm loved and treasured his family. He was a kind and loving husband, patient and caring dad, and a very proud Papa who was uplifted every time his grandchildren walked into the room. His family meant the world to him.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Phyllis; daughter, Kimberly (Scott) Koski; step-children, Jason Kayser and Jodi (Greg) Bernau; grandchildren, Kaylee and Lucas Koski, and Carter and Paige Bernau; step-grandchildren, Justin (Kayla) Koski and Shyanne (Colin) Barrington; siblings, Ralph (Barb) Schumann and Vivien (Bill) Spence, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Olive, and his in-laws Philip and Florence Grandsard.

The family has suggested, in honor of Norm, that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 5 p.m. at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. John Brink officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 27 from 3 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. A larger celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer.
