JOSE L. IBARRA SR

Jose L. Ibarra Sr., 76, formerly of Burlington, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022 in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by his beloved family.

Jose was a man with abounding interests, diverse talents and a multitude of roles during his 76 years on this Earth. He approached life embracing a philosophy of living on borrowed time. He was generous to a fault, an advocate for justice, passionate about current events, a successful entrepreneur who embraced every day with an abundance of energy and positivity.

Regardless of Jose’s lifetime of accomplishments and experiences, he remained a humble, thoughtful man. His favorite and most important roles were with his family as husband, father and grandfather. He embraced each encounter with his family as something to be cherished, many times involving a delicious meal and great conversations. We will miss the days of Jose’s colloquialisms, bending an ear to his entertaining stories of growing up in Mexico and his shared wisdom of a life well lived.

Jose was preceded in death by his wife Blanca, his daughter Laura and infant son Raul. Jose’s warm, firm hugs and infectious laugh are missed dearly by his children, son Hector (Liz), son Jose (Roxanne), daughter Monica (Andre), and daughter Janina (Kyle). His absence is also profoundly felt by his grandchildren, Brandon, Lauren, Kelsey, Madison, Georgia, Lincoln, Jaelen, Mason, Kaeli, Kainoa and Kaedon. He considered his five great grandchildren to be an exceptional blessing and cherished each moment with Elijah, Evelynn, Noah, Penelope and Bennett.

Although many will feel his loss and all tears have not yet been shed, Jose would say, “When it’s your time, it’s your time.” Although it was his time, it’s never enough for those left behind. We welcome those who would like to pay their respects and celebrate his life to join us on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 1 p.m. at St. Charles Church, 440 Kendall Street in Burlington. Burial will take place immediately following mass at St Charles Cemetery, W. State Street in Burlington.
