JEANNINE LILLIAN MUHL

      Jeannine Lillian Muhl, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and laughter, on April 25, 2022.

Jeannine was born Feb. 3, 1942 in Burlington, Vermont, to Paul and Mabel (nee Donahue) Lawrence. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Milwaukee, in 1963. In 1974, Jeannine married Sebastian Muhl in Kaua’i, Hawaii. Due to her love of animals, she ran her own pet store in New Mexico.

In 2006, Jeannine and Sebastian moved to Burlington and became members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Jeannine enjoyed Tai Chi, and was a Certified Tai Chi Instructor. She has also enjoyed globetrotting with her husband, gardening in her backyard, and relaxing with her cats Turtle and Timmy, and her parrot Phoenix.

Jeannine is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Sebastian Muhl and her sister, Kathleen Ehlen. She had no children of her own, but was devoted to her nieces and nephews, Patricia (Mark) Sebby, Michael (Courtney) Ripp, Paul (Michelle) Ripp, Kathryn A. Ripp (Joseph Dieter), Therese Schroeder (Joseph Johnson), James Ripp, Virginia Ehlen, Belinda Lawrence (John Christensen), Marie (Dennis) Kelly, Colleen (Robert) Schiltz, Meg Ripp, Tim (Lisa) Lawrence, Kelly (Christina) Lawrence; and 26 grandnieces and nephews.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her first husband Andrew Kirschmayer, who died in the line of duty in North Vietnam; sister June (Lawrence) Ripp; sister-in-law Janice Lawrence; brother-in-law Richard Ehlen; brothers Thomas Lawrence and Donald Lawrence; brother-in-law John “Jack” Ripp and nephew Joseph Ehlen.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who lovingly cared for Jeannine in her last months including nurses and aids from Aurora at Home Hospice and Anatolii, a caregiver employed by Irene’s Nationwide.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church, 108 McHenry St., Burlington. A private burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
