Anita Ruth Rubach, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, surrounded by her children.

Anita was born in Burlington on March 18, 1926, to Oscar and Gertrude (nee Newbury) Uebele. She grew up on a farm near Bohners Lake, graduated from Burlington High School “Class of 1944” and Milwaukee School of Cosmetology in 1945.

Anita married John “Joe” Rubach on Sept. 27, 1947 at Wisconsin Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Following marriage, they made their home at Bohners Lake and were blessed with 62 years of marriage before Joe’s death on Dec. 22, 2009.

Anita was an active member of Bohners Lake Homemaker’s Club and the organizer of Bohners Lake 4-H Club. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burlington, a past member of their bell choir and a volunteer at Burlington Hospital. She loved birds and gardening, but her greatest joy was being Joe’s wife, a mom, a grandma and a great-grandma. She took interest in and enjoyed their many activities.

Anita is survived by her children, Jo Ann (Bill) Frazier of Charlotte, North Carolina, Janet (Kevin) Bushberger of Wind Lake and Jack (Barb) Rubach of Burlington; proud grandma of Amy (Shawn) Uhlman, Kelly Frazier, Bill J. (Andrea) Frazier, Aaron (Lisa) Bushberger, Michelle (Mike) Hotter, Nicole (Taylor) Vondra and Sarah Rubach; great-grandma of Mikey, Madden and Maren Hotter, Isaac, Norah and Emmett Bushberger, Sophia and Lilliana Vondra and Cooper Uhlman; her sister-in-law, Pauly Uebele; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Curtis Uebele, Esther (Jerry) Caughey, Jeanne (Murray) Dow and Gordon (Doris) Uebele.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burlington or The Veteran’s Terrace in Burlington.

Her children would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff in the Aurora Burlington Memorial Hospital ICU.

Private burial for Anita will take place alongside her husband in Burlington Cemetery.
