PAUL MILO ARMETTA

Dr. Paul Milo Armetta, 72, of Wheatland, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Ascension SE Hospital in Franklin.

Paul was born in New York on July 12, 1949, to Henry and Lois (nee Thompson) Armetta. His early life was spent in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He received his interdisciplinary PHD in Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. On July 2, 1988 in Haddonfield, N.J., he was united in marriage to Anne Reisner Armetta. Following marriage, they made Chicago their home, before moving to Wheatland in 1992.

Paul lived “outside the box”, guided by his creativity and imagination. Among his numerous vocations were teacher, college professor, videographer, and software and website designer for his company Now Creativity. He was involved in the creation of the CATHE Center and was a sixth degree black belt and respected Judo teacher. He was an avid supporter of the arts and a skilled videographer. He served as executive director for the Jubilate Community Singers and created music videos for the Cyberspace Singers during Covid. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and father, always inspiring his family with both his unique way of thinking and his ever present humor and love.

Paul is survived by his wife, Anne: children, Milo (Megumi Akama) Armetta of Wheatland and Claire (Patrick McClosky) Armetta of San Francisco; his father, Henry of Susanville, Calif.; siblings Henry (LeeAnn) Armetta of Horicon and Stacey Armetta of Dallas, Texas; lifelong friend, Laura Furman of Litchfield, Ill.; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff of Aurora Burlington Hospital ICU, Dr. Jolanta Twardy, Dr. Timothy Lesage, and Specialty Select Rehabilitation at Ascension St. Francis Hospital for their care and compassion during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jubilate Community Singers, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, or the American Kidney Fund.

A memorial service will be held at The Enlightenment Center, 126 E. State Street, in Burlington on Sunday Aug. 1, at 4 p.m.
