JEAN E. HANEL


Jean E. (Henning) Hanel, 68, Kansasville, died unexpectedly Nov. 5, 2011, at her home. She was born Oct. 15, 1943, to the late Fredrick and Ella (Gorder) Henning in Janesville. She graduated from Janesville High School and from St. Olaf’s College in Minn., with a Teaching Degree.

She married Eli Hanel on Feb. 15, 1967. They lived in Milwaukee before moving to Kansasville 22 years ago.

She taught at Wausau High School, was a special education teacher for some time, and also was a substitute teacher. She was an artist and worked with Eli painting wall murals with “Eli’s Wall Stylings.” Her hobbies included sewing, cross stitch patterns and vegetable gardening. An avid reader, she was once named “Reader of the Month” at the Union Grove Graham Public Library.

She was very involved in Christian Ministry and helped more than 130 at-risk women welcoming them into her home and teaching them the Bible through an outreach program of the Milwaukee Victory Church. She and Eli led worship at several community churches by singing while she played guitar and piano.

Survivors include her loving husband; siblings, John (Joan) Henning and Sue (Stanley) Myers; siblings-in-law, Shirley (Gary) Hanson, Ervin (Debbie) Gromacki, and Richard Gromacki

Visitation is Friday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to noon at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Ave., Union Grove, with funeral services immediately following.
