A potential contract between Waterford and a private construction company for improvements at one of the village’s most high profile green spaces will be reviewed when the Public Works and Utilities Committee holds its next meeting.

The Village Board on May 9 was slated to discuss and potentially act on the construction services contract, which impacts Ten Club Park. However, officials opted to delay the item until the committee delves into the specifics at its upcoming meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, May 16.

According to information included in the Village Board packet, Burlington-based Scherrer Construction is the potential contractor.

The series of documents includes several potential terms, including compensation. Scherrer’s contract calls for hourly pay rates of $115 for the project manager and project superintendent, $95 for safety director and $75 for project coordinator.

Ten Club Park, which boasts access to the Fox River, has been under the microscope for a number of years within Waterford. Village officials have discussed and prioritized a series of projects to add to what oftentimes is considered one of the most used and visible green spaces within the community.

Specific projects at Ten Club Park have included site grading, a sprinkler system, installation of in-ground utilities, construction of a concession stand, installation of playground equipment and sidewalks.

Last fall, the Village Board and Village Administrator Zeke Jackson discussed funding sources for forthcoming work. Grants, federal stimulus funds and other sources were cited as important components to bring work to fruition.

During the preliminary conversations about Ten Club Park’s future, Jackson late last year referred to the park on multiple occasions as “a blank canvas” and said it has been an ideal spot for local events, such as the beer garden and food truck events.
