Lions Club will donate barbecue proceeds to foundation that carries on his efforts

The Union Grove Lions Club plans to donate 50% of the proceeds from its 41st annual Chicken Barbecue to the GoFrankGo Foundation.

The event – which is the club’s biggest fundraiser – will be held June 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Racine County Fairgrounds in Union Grove.

The GoFrankGo Foundation was established in 2020 to honor the legacy of former Lions Club member Frank Lamping, who died in June 2020 following a long battle with cancer, according to a news release issued by the foundation. Lamping was an active member of the Union Grove club, working as a grill master for 30 consecutive years.

Lamping is best known throughout the state as the 19th inductee into the Green Bay Packers Fan Hall of Fame and in southeastern Wisconsin for his community service work, outreach to children and unmatched love for the Packers, according to the foundation. His story of courage and service has been featured by NFL Films, the Green Bay Packers and by local media outlets.

The GoFrankGo Foundation, primarily funded by private donations from individuals and corporations, operates in such a way as to carry on Lamping’s work through the following:

  • Encouragement, advice and life coaching for preteen children;
  • Mentoring and leadership training for teenagers; and
  • Family support for those affected by childhood cancer.
