Burlington set to celebrate July 4

The Burlington area will celebrate Independence Day with two traditional local events – Venetian Fest on Saturday at Fischer Park on Brown’s Lake and the City of Burlington Firefighters Dance at Echo Park on Monday.

Fischer Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for Venetian Fest, which features the Brown’s Lake Aquaducks water ski show at 4:30 p.m.

The festival opens with the Kayak-Canoe-Paddleboard excursion on Brown’s Lake again this year. The free event begins at 9 a.m. from Fischer Park, proceeds through Halls Point channel, continues around the island and finish back at Fischer Park. This is not a race but a prime opportunity to enjoy the lake with family, friends and future friends, according to organizers.

No registration is required. Call Mark at 414-406-7801 for more information.

The 1970s-themed decorated boat parade will begin at 4 p.m. followed by the Aquaducks water ski show at 5:30 p.m.

Live music from Almighty Vinyl is slated from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. followed by the fireworks display over Browns Lake. Food and beer will also be available for purchase with all proceeds supporting the fireworks fund.
