Man who was on tracks killed by train

A man whom authorities believe intentionally positioned himself on railroad tracks in front of an oncoming train was killed Monday evening in the Town of Burlington.

The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. along the tracks in the area of the 3000 block of South Honey Lake Road, according to a news release issued by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said the man was found deceased near the tracks when they arrived. No foul play is suspected and sheriff’s investigators are working with Canadian National Railroad to further investigate the incident.

The name of the victim was not immediately released pending notification of his family, officials said.

City of Burlington police and fire departments, Town of Burlington Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted sheriff’s officials at the scene.
