Burlington

In this week’s Standard Press…

Another sign that society is reopening as vaccination against the coronavirus rises came Monday when the board governing Burlington’s public schools decided to make masks optional for the district’s summer programs.

Similar meetings have been held in communities across the state and country as groups of vocal parents urge officials to roll back mask restrictions on students.

That was the case in Burlington where a group of people protesting the mask mandate rallied outside the school district office while board members met virtually to discuss the matter.

The 5-2 decision on masks is among the top stories in this week’s edition of the Burlington Standard Press. The newspaper will be available at local retail outlets on Thursday and subscribers will receive their copies with Thursday’s mail.
